5. P19136 - Ready in their new uniforms for the first day of school are Terri Neetz, daughter of Mr and Mrs Calvin Neetz of Green Boulevard and Pat Andrews, daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrews of Mill Road. Terri will be entering Grade 1 at Margaret Stenersen Elementary on Old Clayburn Road and Pat will be in Grade 10 at Abbotsford Junior Secondary School. Uniforms for girls to be worn voluntarily in Margaret Stenersen, Abbotsford Elementary, Philip Sheffield and Abbotsford Junior and Senior Secondary schools were selected by a committee from the Abbotsford Parent Teacher Association. Committee chose a navy blue jumper for elementary pupils and a red blazer and medium grey skirt for secondary school students. School District 34 Board of Trustees has approved in principle the wearing of uniforms but wishes to make it quite clear that uniforms are not compulsory and that no official uniforms have been approved by the board for schools in the district. Girls in Alexander Elementary have worn navy blue tunics for two years and will continue this year.

6. P19589 - Winning the Fraser Valley Volleyball tournament four years in succession were Abbotsford Junior Secondary Girls. They defeated teams from Cloverdale, Como Lake and name obscured to obtain the cup at the tournament played at Port Coquitlam Secondary school on Saturday. 7. P21101 - Senior Secondary students from all over the province that stayed in the area as part of a program sponsored by the British Columbia Centennial Youth Travel Company, with their local hosting student. Back row, left to right: Diane Ellis, Ron Dennett, Wendy Taylor, Rick Brown, Pat Andrews and Lexie Murphy. Front row, left to right: Nola Austin, Robert Johnston, Dorothy Austin, Daryl Jones, Lynda Ryan and Pamela Johnson. These students were part of the 600 students that were part of the program province wide. Each visitor is asked to speak in classrooms and to interested groups in the area they are visiting, telling of their home community, its programs, the district history and its cultural, recreational and economic life. While there, the youth also met with other ambassadors from the other communities. On their return, they will share their experiences with their classmates. The visiting students were also guests of the school board at a dinner party, held at the Park Hotel. A special welcome was given the visitors by H A Borg, the Board Chairman and W J Mouat, District Superintendent. Each student gave a short address on their impressions of this community and all were high in praise of the school spirit existing here. They had a busy week which included visiting farms, businesses, houses and industries. They also attended a Rotary meeting and spent a day visiting Vancouver.

8. P21225 - Winner the Fraser Valley Grass Hockey Championship under the direction of Miss M Drummond were the girls at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School. They won after defeating Hope, Centennial and Queen Elizabeth schools.
