P19471 - Head table guests at the H E Beetlestone golden wedding anniversary celebration Sunday were grandsons Bob Beetlestone and Jim Beetlestone, Mr and Mrs Roy Beetlestone, the honored couple Mr and Mrs H E Beetlestone, Mr and Mrs Bill Beetlestone and Mr and Mrs Frank Kemp. Mr and Mrs H E Beetlestone have lived in Huntingdon since 1928, when they moved to the area so Mr Beetlestone could take a position in Huntingdon Customs as an officer in charge and continued in that role until his retirement in 1957. Upon retirement he was appointed magistrate for the District of Sumas in which position he still serves. He entered into the Customs field in 1917 after being discharged from the army. He worked as an appraiser and express departments in Vancouver and was transferred to Aldergrove in 1920 as a preventative officer, and on to patrol work from Blaine to Columbia Valley.
