P48814 - Girl Guide Captain Mrs H Snow (second from left) presents the second highest award in Guiding, the All Round Cord, to members of the First Matsqui company, Gillian Lancaster and Shirley Bryce (right) with the assistance of Mrs H Tarasenko, District Guider. The First Matsqui Girl Guide Company, with the members' mothers as guests, gathered Friday afternoon at the Matsqui School gym to witness the award of the two All Round Cords. Mrs Snow also enrolled new Guides: June Rempel, Iris Hougen, Sandra Kwak, Betty Anne Cameron, Sharon Tallman and Linda Scott. Mrs J A Allan presented Second Class badges to Valerie Hougen, Valerie Scott, Beverley Stewart, Lorna Pickett, Joan Rennie, Laine Lancaster, Wanda Bell and Wendy Bell. Proficiency Badges were given by Mrs T Lancaster to Gillian Lancaster, who received her Pioneers, Land Girl, Toymaker, and Dairymaid badges, and Shirley Bryce, who received the Pioneers and Swimmers badges. Valerie Hougen and Valerie Scott who were working for their Hostess badges, served the mothers and guests present and arranged a skit. The skit, customers in a shoe shop, was put on by Sharon Tallman, Valerie Hougen, Iris Hougen and Linda Scott. A tea table was decorated in a Valentine theme and Mrs Allan poured. Special guests were Mrs J Maloney, former Captain; Mrs E Anderson, former Brown Owl of a Brownie pack, and Mrs S Sorenson, president of the Mother's group.
