  1. P26597 - The MSA Manor Halloween party, sponsored by the MSA Manor Society and the staff of the Manor. Left to right are three of the special guests attending the event: Matsqui Alderman Ray Kirkwood, Mrs H DeJong and Matsqui Mayor Harry DeJong. They are joined by other special guests, including Abbotsford Mayor George Ferguson, and Mrs Kirkwood. The program includes piper Bob Townsend and drummer John Hanna playing Amazing Grace, and background music by Mrs B Farenholtz. MSA Manor was opened on August 11, 1972, and is a non-profit, non-denominational home for senior citizens. It is located at the edge of Centennial Park and the home is licenced to accommodate 33 residents at the present time. There are plans to add another wing, which would double the number of residents able to be accommodate. Beyond the residents’ rooms, there is a large lounge, library, card room and a large recreation room. All meals are served in the dining room. The Manor is run by a committee of 14 Directors, including representatives from both Matsqui and Abbotsford Councils, that oversees the daily operations of the home. Residents also have representatives on the Board of Directors, one for men and one for women. The meetings are held at the Manor every third Thursday of the month, at 7:30pm. The staff of the home include a Matron, a staff of seven permanent and four incentive workers, and they conduct the daily routine, and a full time night staff is also supplied. The aim of the Directors is to provide at all times a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for all residents and regular events are planned. Memberships, both annual and lifetime, are available to the public. Donations are always appreciated as well.
