2. P21043 - Cow milking contest between the Abbotsford Lions Club and the Jaycees drew many interested spectators at the Cedar Park Shopping Centre Friday night. Representing the Lions were Vic Tessaro and Walter Ross, while milking for the Jaycees were Daryl Cherry and Jonny Reid. The judges for the event were Abbotsford Village Chairman Ed McDougall, Matsqui Reeve J A "Spud" Murphy and Sumas Reeve K J Thompson, and ensured the rules were not broken. The Lions won with a 13.5 quarts of milk poured into bottles, with a single quart lead over the Jaycees. In the exhibition contest before the main event, Jaycees Provincial President Poul Neilsen easily defeated the Abbotsford Lions President Leo Jonasson, who was unable to get any milk into the quart bottle.
