Students from Bradner, Aberdeen and Dunach Elementary schools are taking part in the traditional May Pole dances. Special guests include Matsqui Mayor Harry DeJong, the District Superintendent of Schools, F T Middleton, Miss Abbotsford of 1976 and Miss Abbotsford Flying Club, Carina Olsson, first runner up Miss Hacker Press, Denise Saxbee, and runner up Miss Abbotsford Lions, Kimberly "Kim" Friesen. The Abbotsford Legion Pipe Band also will be performing several pieces. Medallions will also presented to the May Queen and the other queens by Mrs H Friesen. The winners of the School Poster Contest are: Jubilee School student Justin Glibbery, Aberdeen student Billy Bayda, Dunach student Sylvia Thielman, Mt Lehman student Theresa Wolfe and Bradner Elementary student Sharon Collins.

6. P29141 - 1977 "May Day" queen Shelly McIntosh crowns Dana Reimer during Bradner’s 1978 "May Day" celebrations. Overall, the event was a success, attracting large crowds and increased audience participation compared to previous years. The day’s main attraction, the parade, featured 15 floats with the MSA Museum Society winning in the "General" category and Mt. Lehman Parent Teacher Association (PTA) winning in the "PTA" category.
