1. P16367 - "Abbotsford Junior Secondary school boys won the Upper Fraser Valley Junior rugby league. 'Huskies' defeated Sardis 9-0, AD Rundle 19-0, Agassiz 24-0, Chilliwack 6-0 and tied Hope 6-6 in regular play. They stopped Hope 9-0 in semi-finals and defeated Sardis in the finals. 2. P20115 - Eric Britz, Wilfred Blum, Gary Powell, Brad Boyes and Brett Savage helping to load up a truck with boxes containing a range of school equipment. On Wednesday, April 13th, the contents and students of the Abbotsford Senior Secondary School (ASSS) and the Abbotsford Junior Secondary School (AJSS) were switched. Those students with finals wrote them in the morning and all students reported to their home rooms by 12:30 pm. Each teacher was given a paper with the schedule of the moves’ various stages. Before the AJSS students left their old school, Mr T Lindsay read off the homeroom numbers and the rooms for each class on the block timetable, which the students had filled out on new sheets. ASSS students left their old school through the front door and headed into their new school through the back doors. The AJSS students left their old school through the front doors and congregated outside near the road while the ASSS students switched. Each student carried their personal belongings and placed them in new lockers. Those students with their lockers in the new wing had to leave their books in the rooms, as the lockers did not yet have doors. The homerooms at the new AJSS were sea green, the PA systems and the bells were different than that in the original AJSS building. The new ASSS also held some issues for the students, as the water fountains were much lower to the ground, the desks were too small and the PA system was different. Thursday was a holiday for students, unless they were helping move non-classroom items. The library had already been moved, but the Science, IE shops, PE Departments and Home Economic Departments had a tremendous amount of equipment to move and most of it was done on Thursday. The function of the buildings were switched as the former junior building offered greater potential for expansion.

4. P24861 - The 3rd Annual Businessmen’s Open, held at Ledgeview Golf Course on Sumas Mountain. Three golfers, Gary Gowland, Garry Powell and Sid DeHaan,standing near one of the holes. 101 golfers are participating in the tournament, with 40 potential attendees unable to attend. The 1977 BC Amateur Champion, Lorne Rockwell, and the best left handed golfer in BC, Jack Frank, are also in attendance. Ray Stewart won the tournament with a gross score of 65 and a net score of 63. Frank finished second and Rockwell finished in fourth place. Top local players include Bill Turner, Ron Swift, Ron Ross, Dale Collins and Henry Funk.
