The "Spring Showcase of Fashions," sponsored annually by the Women’s Auxiliary to the MSA General Hospital, held March 21, 1979, at the Rancho, was once again a popular spring event. Afternoon and evening performances featured approximately 60 of the latest fashions for women, which saw narrower skirts, wider shoulders and defied waistlines in style, fabrics and colours which can span the seasons Co-ordinates and the basic natural shades were featured in many of the casual jacket dresses and pant suits as well as daytime dresses, and smart changes of accessories provided a change for a specific occasion. The more formal wear, featured the shorter length, and created the truly feminine appeal in both the softer lines and softer materials for a dressy evening. Commentated by Mrs. Barbara Artinian, the fourteen models showed everything from lingerie to swim suits, from daytime and casual wear, to evening and lounging ensembles. Models were Rose Anderson, Mary Brandes, Pauliine Brogaard, Margaret Fribance, Audrey Homer, Marjan Meijer Leta Muarry, Mona Nissen, Agnes Ratzlaff, Marlene Tretheweay, Marlene Venier Brenda Washington, Cindy Wilson and Marjorie Woods. Pianist Theresa Emanacen provided the background music, and welcoming the guests were Mrs. Barb McLouglin at the afternoon performance and Mrs. Rey Riches in the evening.
