Ice hockey players Larry Augustine (centre) and teammate Fred Benz take part in a game during the first annual "Shinny Hockey" charity match, presented by the Fraser Valley Council (No. 901) and the United Commercial Travelers. The match took place at Langley Civic Arena on Saturday, April 15, 2015 between the "Imports" and the Fraser Valley News Media Representatives. Augustine won "Best Overall Costume" while Benz won "Most Colourful Costume." Despite event organizers selling many of the seats, the game had poor attendance because many of the tickets were bought in advance. UCT raised money for programs which supported handicapped children. Despite the humorous shenanigans on ice, the Media Reps team came back 5-4 to win the game. |
