Description |
Site of a crash between a milk transport truck and a BC Hydro Railway train on Harris Road, west of Glenmore. An unidentified police officer stands on the right of the tracks, talking with Ian McDonald, the son of the injured driver and an unidentified Hydro worker. In the distant background is a specialized railway truck on the tracks. The driver of the milk tanker truck, Ian W McDonald of 264th Street in Aldergrove, suffered cuts that required over 20 stitches but did not have any other injuries. The three tonne milk tanker truck was completely destroyed when it was struck by a BC Hydro train, with four diesel engines and approximately 100 cars. The train pushed the tanker truck approximately 368 feet, spreading wreckage along the track and took out three power poles. The accident also blew a transformer and cut power to the downed lines, which removed the fear of electrocution and fire from spilled fuel. |
