Description |
Philip Sheffield Elementary Boys team, winners of the District 34 Elementary Boys Volleyball Championship. The tournament was held at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School. Standing, left to right: Coach William Loewen, Sandy Bourquin, Randy Visser, Brian Smith, Pat Rochon, Glen Harder and Timmy Short. Front row, left to right: Ricky Brozer, Gary Goddard, Bruce Massey, Ron Harder, Ken Garrett and Robert Templeton. Ten schools took part: King, Alexander, Aberdeen, Upper Sumas, Clearbrook, Matsqui, Godson, North Popular, South Poplar and Philip Sheffield. Matsqui Elementary was the favourite initially, but was defeated by a Clearbrook team and took third place. Alexander Elementary, despite a tough right, took fourth place in the tournament. Clearbrook won second after being defeated by Philip Sheffield in two close games. |
