A group of petitioners, organized by Abbotsford Alderman Michael Collins (centre right), campaigns to keep the Fraser Valley bus service amidst allegations that service was scheduled to end on November 1, 1978, in September, 1978. Manager of Pacific Coach Lines Jack Thomas informed the Abbotsford, Sumas and Matsqui News that Collins’ assumptions that Fraser Valley bus routes were to be bought out by private carriers were false. He explained that a study was underway to determine if changes in service were necessary in order to reduce an operating deficit created by existing routes. The deadline for the study was scheduled for March 31, 1979. Thomas told The News that changes would only come after the completion of the study and that, "there are no new changes in the immediate proposal." |
