The Chord Busters, a local Barbershop Quartet appeared in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America Parade of Harmony at Philip Sheffield auditorium Saturday April 30. Quartet featured, left to right: tenor Jack O’Brien, lead Jerry Loewen, baritone Jerry Hanowell and bass Derek Bekkering. Admission to the event was $1.50 for Adults and $0.75 for Children. Other highlighted acts included Fraser Valley Barbershop Chorus, Fireside Four, who were also members of the Thunderbird Chorus from Vancouver, Mount Baker Chorus of Bellingham, WA and under the direction of Jack Northey, and the Howe Sounds, who were well known performers in concert, on radio, TV and on a tour of Europe, including Amsterdam, Copenhagen and in the British Isles. The members were: Rob Buchan, Al Hayward, Maurice Jones and Barry Shields. The program lasted two hours and John Boyd of Bellingham was the Master of Ceremonies. The program was completed with a comedy routine, The Shooting of Dan McGrew, which drew much laughter with Barry Shields playing the part of Lou. |
