First man up to bat in the season opener of the Duffers Softball League between the Atangard and the Sauders teams was Sid DeHann. Ernie Gasperini is catching for the Atangards team and Terry Short is the umpire. The Atangards won with a 9-3 score over Sauders. The game, held at Mill Lake ballpark, was watched by about 75 spectators, seated on the new bleachers built to seat 150 people. The bleachers were completed by club members last week with donations of lumber and material from Abbotsford Lumber, Duecks, Johnny’s Lumber, Modern Building Supplies and Surrey Co-op. |
