Matsqui Mayor Harry DeJong and John Murphy, right, who was the 1847-1956 Public Works Superintendent, before the official ribbon cutting of the Matsqui Public Works Yard. The ribbon is tied to the walkway that connects the building with a road-level parking lot. Former Matsqui Reeve George W Taylor and is also in attendance. After the ceremony, there was a tour of the facility for all of the ceremony attendees and the public. The 16,000 sq ft building cost $350,000, includes a high-roofed automotive shop with a vehicle repair pit, and is built in a former 15 acre gravel pit. There are also plans for the School District 34 Works Facilities to move on the grounds as well. |
