Abbotsford Senior Secondary Girls won the British Columbia Girls’ Volleyball Championship trophy after a competition in Kamloops. Coach Jack Derksen, kneeling at centre, holds the trophy. The players, left to right are: Linda Boury, Ann Heywood, Ann Heyman, Linda Larson, Wilma Cochrane, Linda Dickson and Fay Bevan. They defeated the eleven other teams that completed from all over the province for the trophy, but were also part of over 100 teams who competed in a series of tournaments to reach the semi finals. Abbotsford won the final match against John Oliver of Vancouver and took the best of three series by scores 15-7, 8-15 and 16-14. |
